     People get a chuckle from our Maine weather sticks, but they really work.  Ours is a 12" - 16" wooden rod ready for mounting and packaged with directions.  The folks who make them won't say what type of wood they use, it is considered a production secret, but the idea has been around a long time.  Users report that as well as being predictors of inclement weather, they are great conversation starters.
