It looks like spring is really here this month. We must admit that we were not pleased with Mother Nature's joke of sending us that spring snow in April when we were getting all ready to start smelling the flowers. I suppose it is these little surprises that make us love Maine and really appreciate the warm days when they do get here. The end of the month was lovely and we finally had a few of those open door days.
If you have been in the store this past week, you will have noticed that we are doing some rearranging. It always seems to perk things up when we move things around and since we have some new items, it was time for a little shake up. We hope you will stop in and let us know if you like it.
Mother's day is May 12 and if you are looking for that special gift for your special Mom, we would love to help. Spring is a perfect time for a new handbag and we have a selection of many different looks. In cloth we have large bags with a lot of pockets and zippers that are perfect to keep everything with you and organized. We also have smaller bags in cloth so you can find a size that fits your needs. New this year, are our leather bags in both large and smaller sizes, these are well made and sturdy as well as attractive and soft. We also have lovely shawls and scarves to accessorize any outfit. It is surprising how different you can make things look just by adding a spot of color. And don't forget the jewelry. From a copper piece shaped like a watering can for the gardening Moms to fine silver and gold for a more exquisite statement, we have a varied selection. The fused glass pendants are very popular and sea glass is also loved by anyone on the coast. Remember, all our jewelry is handmade here in Maine and much of it is one-of- a-kind. With a price range of $10 to over $100, you can find something perfect. More special treats are the scented soaps and lotions offered by Naturally Maine. These all natural products are wonderful and there is a lotion for any need.
When you are looking for that perfect card, be sure to get something different. Unlike the of-the-rack cards, ours are original designs in a variety of mediums. An origami card with a heart is a great way to say," I love you Mom," and our prints of original drawings and photography say you took the time to find something just for her.

New Products at Stone Soup Artisans
We have just received most of the new food products that we found for you at the New England Products Trade Show. They are out on the shelves and we hope you will like them as much as we do.
We always munch our way through the show looking for interesting and yummy things. This year we have added a maple cream spread that does need to be refrigerated but is delicious on pancakes, biscuits or just about anything. We also have added granulated maple sugar. The maple sugar candy is so popular we thought this would be good too. There are many uses for it but just sprinkled on buttered toast is a special treat.
One really fun item is Moxie jelly. This is made with the real Maine Moxie and was even liked by those in the group who weren't really Moxie fans. We also have Lucy's Granola Bars. These are a combination of granola, chocolate and toffee. One sample won us over and they were the first things we ordered when we got back to the store. The granola must make them good for you, but we didn't care as they are delicious.
We also have Safe Haven Chocolates. These are high quality chocolate molded into in all the favorite Maine themes like lobsters, moose and lighthouses as well as others including cats and dogs
Getting away from food, we have the Misty Mountain seeds again. We get some every year in the cute little tins and also in postcards. They both make a friendly little gift for a gardening friend. Included in this year's tins are selections of seeds to attract beneficial insects and butterflies as well as assorted herbs and flowers.

Saco Spirit Coming Events
Last Friday Art Walk
April was our first time joining the Last Friday Art Walk in Biddeford and Saco. It was great fun and we will be doing it again on May 31 and hopefully each last Friday through the summer. With a different artist or craftsman featured each month, you will have a chance to meet many of our members. We hope you will drop in one of these evenings. The Art Walk hours are from 5 - 8 the last Friday of each month.
A couple other events you may want to mark on your calendar are the Saco Art Festival on June 22 and the Saco Spirit Car Show on July 27. These are always a lot of fun and definitely worth a trip downtown.
