All Joken Pottery is made from strong, durable stoneware clay.  Each piece is hand-thrown on the potter's wheel.  Size and shape are controlled only by the potter's skill and experience.  Slight variatons are to be expected and are desirable, making each piece unique.  Sizes are approximate.  All pieces may be cleaned in the dishwasher and used in the microwave or oven, and are safe for use with food.  Stoneware pottery should never be placed directly on a stove burner and must be at room temperature before being placed in a hot oven. 

Maine Country Pottery

The Country Pottery line is made with function in mind.  These pieces are meant to be used every day, bringing a little art to the breakfast table or dining room.  Mug handles are designed with comfort in mind and all shapes are made for continued use.  Available in Blueberry or Spongeware.

A hand-crafted stoneware mug just makes coffee taste better.  Whether it is the thickness of the clay that holds the heat or the shape, we don't know, but it improves the morning.  These mugs are great for other beverages too, both hot and cold.  Safe for all foods, the microwave and the dishwasher.

The stoneware pie plate was the standard for cooking not too long ago.  Although ours are pretty to look at, they bake a great pie.  The slow heat of the stoneware makes a golden crust.  Glaze may darken slightly with continued use.  Since each one is hand-thrown, depths and widths will vary, but all easily hold a 9" pie recipe.  Safe for all foods, the dishwasher, microwave and oven.
Cream and sugar sets match the patterns on our mugs, but also blend with many other patterns and colors.
