How to Order from Stone Soup Artisans

Due to the increasingly high cost of the shopping cart, we are changing the methods we offer for you to order from the site. Instead of the shopping cart, we offer three methods of purchasing items:

1.  You may fill out the order form at on the
Order Page and mail it to us with a check.

2.  You may call the store and give your order and charge card number to the clerk who is working that day.  207-283-4715

3.  You may email us your phone number and the best time to call and we will call you and take your order over the phone. This is probably the preferred way to order over the phone since our clerks are occasionally busy with store customers and may need to get back to you.

We realize that this is not as convenient as using a shopping cart on the site but we hope you will find our Maine products worth the little extra effort.

We always like to hear from our customers.  Please contact us any time you have a question, suggestion, or comment.  We'll listen!

        Maine Handcrafts

Maine has a long standing history of quality workmanship and artistic achievement. From the tall ships of the 1700’s to the artisans of today, we take pride in our work. The creativity and skill of our craftsmen reflect the value we place on each item made.
At Stone Soup we strive to continue this tradition of excellence and blend it with the skills of today’s modern craftsmen to bring you a product that reflects imagination, value and quality. A gift made in Maine is a gift to treasure.

Twenty Years and Counting

The year 2011 marks the twentieth anniversary of Stone Soup Artisans opening in downtown Saco. Twenty years is a long time for any small retail store to survive, but the continuation of our cooperative store is something that really stands out as an accomplishment we are all proud of.

The Stone Soup Artisans store is a true craft cooperative which opened in Saco In June of 1991. It is run entirely by the artisans who display and sell their work through the store. With no paid staff and the members sharing the work, we bring quality Maine hand crafted items directly to our customers.

Everything sold in the store is made right here in Maine. A few items, like food and post cards are purchased to complement the crafts, but they are all Maine made. With over fifty artisans represented, there is a great variety of constantly changing items.

Variety and quality are what we strive for. From gold and sterling silver jewelry to dog biscuits, there is definitely something for everyone. We are very grateful to our loyal local customers who come in every time they need a gift or just something special for themselves. We also appreciate our many summer visitors who make us a part of their yearly trip to Maine.

If you are in the area, please stop in and say “Hi.”  If you can’t make it to Maine, we offer a small selection of the many items in the store online at this website.
